This year, as the church learns from 1 Peter how to faithfully live as exiles in a broken world estranged from its Creator, the men will be focusing on studying how Jesus did this very thing in the gospel of Mark. Mark intentionally presents Jesus as the suffering servant-King who was constantly misunderstood, and yet persevered till the end to fulfill his calling for the sake of us all and the glory of the Trinity. This example will be incredibly instructive for us as men as we consider how to more fully live out authentic, biblical manhood.

The Bible is an amazing book. It is God’s Word to us. And yet, many of us struggle with how to read, study and interpret the Scriptures because of it richness, depth, and diversity of content, not to mention the cultural and historical distance between it and us today. In this 12-week class we will learn various strategies and techniques that will help to become better students of God’s Word, so that we might know Him better. This includes surveying the various types of biblical literature and how to interpret them, as well as how to faithfully apply text to our lives today. This is a class that every Christian should take.
